1/30/2015 0 Comments MCBA Healey ChallengeStudents in grades 4-6 have been challenged to participate in the Massachusetts Childrens Book Award (MCBA) program this year. For the second year the Healey Library has purchased 3 copies of each of the 25 books on the list and by reading a minimum of 5 titles from the list students will earn the ability to cast an official vote in determining this year's award winner. Additionally, the class with the most participation (students who read the 5 book minimum) will earn a library pizza party! Ms. Rocha has been busy reading and enjoying the exciting titles from the list as have many of our students. Keep reading; the program will continue until the beginning of March.

1/30/2015 0 Comments Mock Caldecott Election 2015Second grade students have been analyzing picture books and considering what makes one "distinguished" and special enough to win the next Caldecott Medal. We've read, discussed and considered a number of Caldecott 2015 hopefuls in anticipation of the official announcement to be made on February 2, 2015. Students in grade 2 and beyond have cast an "official ballot" with predictions for the winner. We'll see how close we come to the decisions made by the American Library Association. 1/16/2015 0 Comments Beginnings....This website has been a long time coming, and I couldn't be more excited that it's finally up and running. Of course there is quite a bit of content in the works, but it's a start!
